Established in August of 2004, Taverna is Virginia Beach’s first authentic Mediterranean Restaurant. Owned and operated by two area veteran restaurateurs, John Perros and Kal Kassir immigrated to the United States from Greece and The Middle East bringing with them a wealth of culture and generations of family recipes.

With stonewalls, dimly lit pillars, tables of slate and cozy circular booths, Taverna promotes a dining experience of casual elegance. The open kitchen and Chef’s table provide our guests the opportunity to observe and interact with the culinary team while they prepare the evenings fare. Our granite top bar provides an excellent place to gather with friends and colleagues. Taverna also boasts year round sheltered terrace for small gatherings, business meeting and private dinners.

In keeping with our innovative approach to pairing wine and food, we offer a variety of wines from Greece, Spain, Italy and other Mediterranean countries. Selections from the United States’ best wine producing regions create a well-rounded list complimenting your dining experience.
